 The Psychron is a portable battery powered and motor aspirated psychrometer. It has many important advantages over conventional sling type psychrometers. No whirling or special technique is required to operate this portable instrument, making it easier and safer to use in close quarters.
A precise aspiration rate is obtained by a turn of the switch... thus eliminating the danger of expensive thermometer breakage and human errors which can occur with sling type psychrometers.
The Belfort Psychron® consists of a pair of wet and dry bulb thermometers, a therm¬
ometer lighting system, a small fan motor (powered by three standard size "D" batteries) and a molded housing. The fan motor is controlled by a three-position switch on the side of the housing. A turn of the switch, past the "on" position, provides illumination to the thermometers. A psychro¬metric slide rule and instruction book are supplied.
Psychron thermometers are graduated from + 10° to + 110°F. Psychrons may also be purchased with centigrade thermometers graduated from - 15° to + 45°c. Special ranges are available at a nominal cost. A sliding panel in the Psychron housing permits easy access to the battery compartment and the water bottle. Shielding from the effects of external heat radiation is provided by the removable air intake through which air is drawn at a rate exceeding 15 feet per second.
